I’m finally catching up on Shrinking and at one point Jimmy tells his patient when they get frustrated with their partner to just boop and knock the coffee cup over. This ends up having some… interesting results. But I realized as a parent sometimes our job is to boop our kids into doing things.

Andy got asked to be in a second band at School of Rock this year. At first we were telling them it was their choice, but as we kept talking about it they were excited and nervous and the more they talked about it the more the nervous part started taking over. So we booped them and told them they were doing it.

Now if the initial reaction hadn’t been excitement would I have booped them into it? Probably not.

As you’ll hear on next week’s podcast, I should probably start booping more often wrt to book suggestions. Small hints/suggestions and then letting them make up their own mind means they miss out on some pretty cool things.

Happy Reading!
