Mike’s gotten Andy into playing Hades II, a dungeon crawling role-playing game we have for the Switch 2. One of the things I love about this game is the God Mode where every time you die during a run, you get more powerful. It’s great to help frame failure as a learning opportunity. Also it’s just fun and makes me wish everything came with a God Mode.

Watching Andy play has helped remind me to re-frame how I personally look at failure. My fear of failure is probably why I never DNF’d a book until recently.

Letting go of your fear of failure can be hard. So for anyone who needs to hear it:

It’s OK to die and start again. It’s OK to not finish a book that’s not keeping your interest. It’s OK to make a mistake or take a break or say you don’t know. You didn’t fail, you just learned something.

Happy Reading!
